All Are Welcome.
No One Goes Hungry.

The SSIP Food Closet provides emergency food assistance to anyone who needs it in South Sacramento — no questions, no barriers, just compassion in action.

The Crisis We Address

Fighting food insecurity
one family at a time

In South Sacramento, far too many families face a painful choice between food and other basic necessities. Since 1969, the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership (SSIP) Food Closet has stood as a reliable lifeline — operating an emergency food distribution program rooted in dignity, faith, and community. We serve an average of 17,000 people every month.

Partner faith-based organizations, local businesses, and dedicated volunteers join forces to ensure that any person or family who walks through our doors receives food — no barriers, no judgment.

What We Do

Our core programs
& initiatives

Our core program operates Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM at 5625 24th Street. Any person or family may visit with a valid form of ID, and they will be served. We partner with Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services and local grocery stores to ensure a consistent supply of fresh, nutritious food.
Volunteers are the heart of SSIP. From sorting and packing groceries to greeting families and managing logistics, our volunteer corps makes everything possible. We welcome individuals, families, faith communities, and corporate groups. Join us and make a direct impact every week.
Our annual Food Pantry Fundraiser is a signature community event that unites local businesses, faith partners, and individual donors to sustain our mission year-round. The 2026 fundraiser brings together Sacramento's most compassionate supporters for a powerful evening of giving.
Partnering with SSIP as a sponsor means directly funding emergency food for South Sacramento families. Our 2026 sponsor program offers meaningful visibility and community recognition for businesses committed to social responsibility and ending hunger locally.
Non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and household staples can be donated directly at our 24th Street location. We accept donations from individuals, schools, churches, and businesses. Every item donated feeds a real neighbor facing hardship in our community.
