Thirty Years of
Music That Moves
Sacramento

The Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra brings world-class choral-orchestral performance to the Greater Sacramento region — accessible, powerful, and built for the community.

Our Mission

Classical music
belongs to everyone

Founded in 1996 by Conductor Donald Kendrick, the SCSO has spent three decades making large-scale choral-orchestral performance financially accessible to Sacramento-area families. We believe great music doesn't require an exclusive ticket price — it requires community, dedication, and the 180 voices and 55 professional musicians who show up every season.

As the only chorus in the United States with a collective bargaining agreement with a professional orchestra, we keep our players working, our union strong, and our stage open to audiences who might never otherwise experience a live Beethoven symphony.

Season 30 · The Legacy

Three decades.
One conductor.
One community.

When Donald Kendrick founded the Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra in 1996, he built something Sacramento didn't know it needed: a professional-grade choral organization with a union orchestra, accessible pricing, and an uncompromising commitment to the music. Thirty seasons later, the ensemble has performed over 180 concerts, produced 10 mastered recordings, and raised nearly three million dollars to keep professional musicians working in this region.
